I have been farming with my family for 22 years on a 150ha cropping and finishing property in Manawatū. My wife Kathryn is a Territory Manager for Terranova Seeds who supply vegetable seed to market gardeners. We have a daughter in her last year of mechanical engineering, a son shepherding in Taihape, and our youngest son working in fire compliance with his own security business.
My passions are family, farming, mountain biking, cycling and skiing.
I have considerable experience in a wide range of business, governance, and community roles which I will bring to the council table with a new perspective and energy. I will focus on Horizons key roles in the environment, managing the regions natural resources, economic development, transport systems and natural disaster response.
Over the coming weeks I will post about Horizons roles in our regions and issues of particular interest to me.
I am a facilitator who will work with my fellow councillors to gets things done. If elected I will be new to the council and want to make a difference and not just make up the numbers.
